Dave’s family goes to a tree farm every year near their house and get what I think, is an enormous tree (this year they topped out at 12’). Last year we didn’t go because our realty company gave us a free tree and that was an offer we couldn’t refuse. I actually went on my first tree hunting trip in 2010, posted here. It’s a fun holiday tradition that makes living in MN a bit more special. As a former winter-hater, it’s something to look forward to.
Side note: I have had a long standing hate for winter and I try to embrace it every year. I think I’m starting to lose some of my loathing toward the dark season. You know what’s helped? A quality winter jacket and boots. Worth. Every. Penny.
Anywho, back to the tree hunting… We wandered around until everyone had their favorite tree.
This little guy kept us company.
Isn’t his little snowy beard adorable?
Here’s the tree we picked:
Then I thought it would be fun to have a little tree in our porch too. Dave thought it was tiny and very lightweight as you can see.
Then he must have gotten bored while waiting for everyone else to cut down their tree because he turned a Fraser Fir into a slingshot.
Happy holidays! (Decorated tree seen here)
